There is a story about this cup of coffee oil painting. On my way back from taking my sister to the airport, I stopped in Marina del Rey for lunch then to Venice to walk around the boardwalk (to revisit the place I had skated to from Ventura) in 1980 (after watching the miracle hockey game with my dad. However that’s another story for another time).

My cellphone was low on charge so I stopped into this cute coffee shop: #Menottis (at 56 Windward) and they graciously told me where I could plug in. I ordered a latte and then realized I had left my card at the restaurant where I bought a salad for lunch. I apologized and started to leave and the girl behind the counter stopped me and pushed the coffee toward me and said, “no charge for the coffee. ”Who does that?” Humanity is alive and well and I just wanted to testify and commemorate the occasion by painting this memorable cup of kindness.
