This reproduction print of an original pastel painting is titled, “The Darkest Hour is Just Before The Dawn” During a difficult time in my life I would go to the beach before dawn to watch the sun enter the sky. I took photos this day at Pine Grove beach surf spot, ISLA VERDE, PR Looking towards Piñones. Tremendous foreboding clouds and the luminous light coming into the sky. It is before dawn when the street lights are still on yet the sky is beginning to fill with an incredible orange light. Sunrises bring such hope… lighting the darkness.

I went home and created  this 16”x20” pastel painting. The message for me was that the darkest hour is just before the dawn...but take heart, there is hope, even in the worst of circumstances. The dawn brings light, life and a new day of hope.

I struggled to get this right. Nocturnes are not easy. When I finally posted it when I was finished my cousin Marne responded immediately. She said it inspired her she was also having a hard week and it gave her hope.

PROVENANCE: The original was purchased and entered into the collection of my dear cousin Marne Rowland Duke in Oregon. (My father’s baby sister ( my aunt) Madeline’s daughter, may they both Rest In Peace) Thank you Marne.

Epson’s DURABrite Ultra pigment ink uses an exclusive Microencapsulation technology where each pigment particle is encased in a resin. A unique polymer pulls the particles apart, so they are suspended in the solution and never coagulate. The ink base then helps the DURABrite Ultra pigment particles penetrate the paper. DURABrite Ultra ink uses a specific technology to control the penetration level of the ink and keep the colorant near the surface and a special formula that creates more Vibrant & bright colored prints.  Conventional dye-based ink particles are absorbed into the fibers of plain paper and are soluble in water. Pigment inks come at a higher cost than dye inks but you can feel confident in your investment that will last for generations.
